Troop Patrol Meeting July 2, 2008
Last night at our patrol meeting we learned about how to prepare for our 5 mile overnight backpacking trip. Brother Whitehead had his new hiking backpack all loaded up and had us guess how much it weighed with his tent, sleeping bag, change of clothes, fishing gear, water purifier, rain poncho, and a few other small things. It was funny when each boy tried on the pack and wobbled around the yard trying to see if it was too heavy for them. Guess how much it weighed??? About 25 pounds.
We also learned about fishing, and how to tie a fisherman's knot. Brother Jessop just got a new fishing pole and was doing some practice casts. On about his second or third cast, he forgot to let go of the fishing line and the plastic bubble slammed onto the sidewalk and shattered. He really needs to get outdoors more. All of the boys demonstrated that they learned how to tie the fisherman's knot so that they could get a motivational piece of candy. They all did great!
Here's the line up of who could attend out patrol meeting last night.
